Central Bank of Nigeria sponsored tennis tournament came to end on Saturday in Abuja with Nigeria’s number one Oyinlomo Quadre retaining the title she won last year after beating fierce rival Marylove at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
The Women’s Singles final terminates with a dominating performance to see Quadre win her second CBN Open title by a 6-0 6-0 victory.
The world number 142 had defeated Marylove ranked 636 at the junior ITF two consecutive times and continued her superiority over her.
On her way to victory, training partner and friend Serena Teluwo was the first to taste her wrath. She took her to the cleaners; six love, six love.
Quadre got a tougher test in former champion Sarah Adegoke in the semi final after a first scare coming from behind 5-2 and a set point down to go, to win by 7-5.
She was in cruise control in the second set winning 6-2 to get to the final.
Nigeriatennislive.com reports that with this win, Quadre has won every national title available for grabs since the beginning of 2019, and thus, confirms her status as Nigeria’s number one player.
