Esperance of Tunisia are champions for the fifth time after overcoming rivals and fellow North Africans, Zamalek of Egypt at the 2021 Men’s African Club Championship.
The Tunisians dominated the Egyptians from start to finish winning in straight sets ( 25-20, 25-23, 25-10).
The Tunisian giants with the win are now on level terms with final opponents Zamalek after winning the cup in 1994, 1998, 2000, 2014 and recently in 2021.
Meanwhile, Swehly of Libya claimed their first ever medal in African championship after they upset Kelibia of Tunisia 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-19) in the bronze medal match of the 2021 Men’s Club African Championship in Tunis, Tunisia on Tuesday.
At the end of the 2021 Men’s Club African Championship, the most valuable player award went to Esperance (TUN) Khalid Ben Slimane. Other awards are:
Swehly (Libya) Nathan Wounembaina – best server
Esperance (TUN) Khalid Ben Slimane – best setter
Zamalek (EGY) Reda Haikal – best attacker
Esperance (TUN) Ahmed Khadi – best blocker
Esperance (TUN) Saddam Hmissi – best libero
