President of Guinean Football Federation Mamadou Antonio Souaré has been declared eligible to contest for a seat in CAF Executive Committee by the Court of Arbitration for Sports CAS.
The 68-year-old Guinean businessman and football leader was declared eligible Thursday March 11, 2021, after rejecting his candidacy January 29, and February 12, 2021 for reasons being linked to a betting company.
According to the document (CAS 2021/A/7717) signed by the President of the Formation of CAS,
“Mr. Mamadou Antonio Souaré has been declared eligible contest for a seat in CAF Executive Committee 12 March 2021,” part of the document reads.
The Confederation for African Football CAF will make a contribution CHF 5000 to Mamadou Antonio Souaré worth participation in his legal fees.
The elections are expected to take place this Friday March 12, 2021.
Mamadou Antonio Souaré is the president of GBM (Business Marketing Group), of Guinea Airlines. He is also president of the Horoya AC football club in Conakry and doubles as the Guinean Football Federation , as well as the Union des Fédérations Ouest-Faricaines de football.
