Cameroon Elite One ‘sleeping giants’ have announced the appointment of experienced coach Jean Baptiste Bisseck as their new trainer for the 2022/23 season, kick442.com can report.
On Monday, Bisseck who already resumed duty was officially confirmed as the replacement for Minkreo Birwe on a one-season deal with an option for another year determined by results.
The former Eding Sport de la Lekie trainer will be assisted by Alexander Belibi who occupied the same role under Birwe.
Bisseck who won the 2018 cup Cameroon crown with Eding and has also managed Akonangi FC in Equatorial Guinea is expected to bring on board the required ingredients to help Canon end a twenty-year trophy drought – having finished third last season.
The Gunners whose last successful shot at the league one crown was in 2002 have made a number of interesting signings this close season; including the capture of Kamta, Jourdain Mbainassem, Randy Che among others.
The Canon job marks coach Bisseck’s comeback to the Elite One scene for the first time in two years.
Italian coach Nicolas Santucci who previously worked at TP Mazembe and Horoya AC will accompany Bisseck as Sporting Director while ex-indomitable Lions’ defender Jules Denis Onana takes up the role of the administrative secretary of Canon.
