Ahead of the Cup of African Nations Amputee Football dubbed CANAF 2021, Cameroon Amputee Association CAMPUTEE has gotten an invitation for participation.
The competition is expected to run from October 1 to 14, 2021 in Tanzania, which will see some other African countries battle for the prestigious trophy. 10 Nations including defending champion Angola, host Tanzania and others.
It should be recalled that such an invitation was received last year from Tanzania Amputee Federation intended for a game between Cameroon and Tanzania, unfortunately it did not push through due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2019, CAMPUTEE National Team participated in the fifth edition of the Cup of African Nations Amputee Football in Angola, and backed home a Fair Play trophy out of six participating Nations (Angola, Nigeria, Liberia, Tanzania, Sierra Leone, and Cameroon). This was less that 10 months of existence as an Association involved in Amputee Football.
The lions of Cameroon so far are fine-tuning tactics ahead of such a great battle in Tanzania where in they will meet with the likes of defending champion Angola who beat Nigeria in the 2019 finals 2#0 and double as winners of the 2018 Amputee World Cup in Mexico.
Making it to Tanzania this year will be more than just a game. It will be a greater chance to get to a better position unlike in their last outing.
The Association is barely two years of existence with the first ever Amputee Football league CANFL 2020 yet to be completed.
Cup of African Nations Amputee Football CANAF is competition for African Amputee Footballers which comes up every two years aimed at expanding the visibility and rights of people with disabilities.
