The Cameroon youths league (U15 and U17), will be operational before the end of November 2019. This according to a resolution of FECAFOOT’s executive committee meeting of October 16, 2019.

Meeting in an executive committee meeting on Wednesday October 16, 2019 at the mont Febe Hotel, FECAFOOT’s executive committee members, appointed Gilbert Kadji as the first ever president of the Cameroon youths league, with the league expected to get underway in a months time.

Speaking to the press shortly after his appointment, Gilbert discussed his targets and challenges in developing youths football in the country. He said “I’m very proud, but it’s a big challenge because youths football is not only to prepare those who will be professionals in the future. It is also to make the maximum of young Cameroonians who want to play football, love to play football and tomorrow they will be those who will help the federation.

Concerning his plan of action, Gilbert Kadji said “we will start first with this traditional championship that will begin in a months time. Our big plan is to bring football back to school”.

FECAFOOT’s president Seidou Mbombo Njoya describes the putting in place of the youths league, as a historic moment. “This is a very revolutionary moment for us, because at last, Cameroon will have a youths championship this season

The creation of the youths football, is part of the giant plans by the Mbombo Njoya led bureau, to give a new look to football in the country. It started with the creation of the women’s football league, with more plans seemingly on the pipeline.
