Footages have emerged showing officials of Cameroon’s ministry of public health inspecting the military stadium in Ngoa-Ekelle Neighborhood in Yaounde. Sources say the inspection was aimed at transforming the facility to a make-shift center for Covid-19 patients.
The Central African nation is currently battling with the dreaded Pandemic having registered 203 new cases on Friday April 3 to take the number of cases to 509 patients.
According to sources, the 2000 seater Stadium will be used as a make-shift quarantaine center for patients suffering from the virus.
The military stadium lastly hosted Cameroon’s Under-17 Lionesses’ six nil Under-17 FIFA World cup qualifiers win over Sao Tome and Principe.
The state-owned natural grass pitch has been used for a good number of local and international club matches over the years.
Before the latest move, hundreds of Cameroonians were quarantined in different private hotels in the country on the bills of the Cameroon government.
