Spanish LaLiga giants FC Barcelona have completed the signing of 20-year-old potential Indomitable Lions of Cameroon forward Franck Angong from Japanese side Vissel Kobe.
The player is said to have been spotted by former Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta while in Japan and recommended to the Spanish Club.
Angong joined Iniesta’s from Dominican Republic outfit Cidao FC in 2018 and quickly impressed Iniesta who ensured he had a tryout at Barcelona.
On Wednesday, the Club made the Yaoundé-native their second signing of the summer after the capture of forward Fabian Luzzi from Rayo Vallecano.
Angong and Luzzi will join Barcelona’s reserves team when the new campaign resume while hoping to get a chance in the first team.
Interestingly, Angong has spent most of his career so far working alongside Albert Benaiges, who spent 20 years as a coach and coordinator at Barça’s academy.
He worked with the coach at Cidao FC, followed him to Andres Iniesta’s Vissel Kobe, alongside his brother Francky.
His brother is currently on the books of Spanish side Levante, having signed for them this window.
