Indomitable Lioness of Cameroon defender, Estelle Johnson was in action for her side Gotham as they lost to North Carolina Courage 2-0 at WakeMed Soccer Park stadium, Cary city, USA in a NWSL Challenge Cup, East Division, Women encounter.
The Lioness came off the bench to contribute in the game but all efforts from her at the back of Gotham’s compartment seemed but in vain.
North Carolina Courage recorded their first win of the third annual Challenge Cup on Saturday March 19,2022.
Goals from Brianna Pinto and Abby Erceg helped Katelyn Rowland keep a clean sheet, denying Laura Johnson and her side even a point.
The 33-year-old who became a part of NWSL club NJ/NY Gotham FC in 2019, counts over 34 appearances though without a single goal scored.
Johnson, made her debut for her country Cameroon, in May 2019 against Spain in a 0-4 friendly loss.
The prolific defender has been a force behind the Indomitable lionesses progressing to the 2023 Africa women nation’s Cup in Morocco.
North Carolina women are top of Pool A with three points ahead of Orlando Pride,Washington Spirit. while Gotham are bottom in the same pool with no point.
Estelle Johnson’s side, Gotham, will face third in their pool, Washington Spirit who hold a point, on March 26. While The North Carolina side will continue the Challenge same March 26 as they host the Orlando Pride.
