Belgian Jupiler Pro League outfit Standard Liege have appointed retired Cameroonian footballer Aloys Bertrand Nong as the lead trainer of their Under-15s with immediate effect.
The Liege outfit announced the move this week adding that the 37-year old will also assist their Under-21s as they look to reform their staff going into the 2021-2022 season.
Experienced Nong only retired from professional football in 2019 after a 17 years on the pitch representing Belgian sides; Standard Liege, Mechelen, Kortrijk, Brussels and Royal Liege plus Spanish side Levante amongst others.
The gaffer begins a new page in his life in football as a coach, having represented 15 clubs across the world.
The Kadji Sports Academy graduate was capped for Cameroon’s youth teams but failed to get the notch with the senior national selection
Standard Liege is one of few clubs in Europe that is managed by an African head coach Mbaye Leye.
Nong joins a number of Cameroonians serving as managers at different European clubs.
