Junior Lions Coach Ousmanou Christophe says he is targeting maximum points against Mozambique as both sides face each other in the last Group A game for both sides this evening.
Cameroon faces Mozambique at 8 pm (9 pm Cameroon time) this Saturday, February 20 at the Stade Cheikha Boydie in Nouakchott, Mauritania.
The junior lions had a training session on Friday evening as they look to be on point against a Mozambique side that has nothing to lose in the game.
“We will do everything to finish the first round with maximum points. It is a match that will prepare us for the rest of the tournament. We have to be alert constantly like soldiers at war. We will have 11 players on the pitch no matter the opponents and 11 off the field,” Coach Ousmanou Christophe told the team’s media officer.
Cameroon has looked excellent in both of their games played at the competition, picking up 3 points in both of their encounters. The team has a maximum of six points while Mozambique has 0 points, beaten in both of their games played.
Coach Ousmanou Christophe further indicated that just like any other team the game against Mozambique will be a difficult one. He said: “A match is never won before it is played. Mozambique is indeed at the bottom but they will want to leave the competition on a high.”
On the opening day of the competition, Cameroon defeated host Mauritania 1-0 and followed that up with the same scoreline on matchday two with a win over Uganda.
Star forward Jang Sunday has been magnificent for the junior lions, scoring both goals for Cameroon. With the quarter-finals insight, Jang Sunday and a host of players may be rested against Mozambique.
