The Football Tribunal of the World’s Football Governing body FIFA, has condemned The Cameroon Football Federation FECAFOOT, to pay 1.700.000 euros to former indomitable lions coach, Antonio Conceição, for the breach of his contract.
60_year_old António Conceição da Silva Oliveira was sacked shortly after the 2021 African Nations Cup where he guided the indomitable lions of Cameroon to a third place finish.
With over a year left to his contract with the Cameroon National Football team, the Portuguese took the matter to the highest jurisdiction of football, to claim indemnities for the illegal termination of his contract.
Now the World Football Governing Body through its Football Tribunal charged with passing decisions relating to football-related disputes and regulatory applications, has declared Conceição’s claims valid and found Cameroon guilty.
In a recent decision signed by the chief of Legal and Compliance officer at the Football Tribunal, Emilio Garcia Silvero, the Cameroon football Federation will pay close to 1.700.000 Euros (one Billion 200 millions FCFA), to the Portuguese for the the Abusive termination of his contract.
However, FECAFOOT has up to 45 days to to lodged an appeal, in accordance to article 8 sub 2 of the regulations on the status and transfer of players and payments.
It is not the first time the Cameroon Football Federation has been forced to pay indemnities to former coaches for the illegal termination of their contracts. Clarence Seedorf, Patrick Kluivert, Hugo Broos and Volke Finke, have all harvested huge sums of money from FECAFOOT, for a similar reason.
