The Cameroon professional football league through its communication officer,Jean Marie Nkoussa have taken to social media to announce the professional league’s official best XI of the just ended league one season.

In a team dominated by champions Cotonsport of Garoua with 3 players,there are players from 7 different clubs.

The team led by coach Bertin Ebwelle, the league’s coach of the season looks like this;

Simon Medjo Loti Omossola(20 year old-Cotonsport of Garoua

The 20 year old shot stopper has been an absolute mountain on goal for the Cotonites this season.
Kept out in favour of favour of Togolese International goalkeeper Bassa Djeri Sabairou,Omossola took his chance when it came and ended up playing 29 of 34 league games for the new champions of Cameroon.

Omossola saved 3 penalties in the just ended season against and kept 19 clean sheets this season(the most for any goalkeeper this season)

Bawak Etta Thomas(24 year old-New Stars FC)

Voted best defender in the league one Championship for the 2017 season, the 2018 season has not been any different for the versatile defender.Bawak has operated as a left back, right back and a wing back this season, Bawak made 31 appearances in the 2018 season all as starts and provided 4 assists for New stars in the just ended season.
Bawak’s leadership skills in a New stars team that ended the season 5th on the log has been second to non.
In the course of the 34 games season, Bawak appeared 9 times in the the league’s official team of the week

Left Back

Lionel Ngong Bong (21 year-old- YOSA)

Full international these days after receiving his first called up to the senior national selection in March 2018 for a friendly against Kuwait,Bong Lionel has had a staggering season.

With 31 appearances and 3 assists,the left back has been exceptional and was even named in the league one best XI of the first round.
Bong was an integral part of the YOSA of Bamenda defense line that conceded just 20 goals in 34 league games(The least for all 18 clubs in the league)
Recalled from a loan at USD,Bong Lionel has been arguably the most consistent player for YOSA this season.

Centre back

Landry Cedric Djomo (23 year old- UMS)

Arguably the finest performer all season for UMS of Loum, Landry Cedric Djomo has been the “Solid Rock” on which UMS defense was built all season.

With 31 appearances all starts for UMS Loum, Djomo was named in the league’s official team of the week 12 times this season.

Central defender
Nkuissi Thomas Legrand (Stade Renard)

“Batiment” as he is known to most fans of Stade Renard of Melong,Nkuissi Thomas Legrand has been immensely important to the survival of Stade Renard in the just ended season.

Thomas Legrand made 32 appearances for Stade Renard in the just ended.


Jean Nicolas Abanda Koa (UMS Loum)

Master planner of all good things this season for UMS Loum, Jean Nicolas Abanda Koa featured in 32 games this season for UMS of Loum scored 2 goals all away from home.

Abanda Koa has been a complete example of a box to box midfielder this season.

Solomon Marie Enounga Etoga

Master of assists in the 2018 season with 14 assists and 5 goals in 32 league games,Enounga was pivotal to Fovu’s bright of the season. Enounga penalty winning ability this season was God sent for Fovu.

Innocent Assana Nah (18 year old- Cotonsport of Garoua)

The revelation of the season, Little Innocent Assana dominated the midfield over the course of the season giving him the chance to make 25 appearances from which he scored 5 goals and provided 9 assists.

Assana was twice voted young player of the season and scored one of the goals of the season against Eding Sport FC in Yaoundé.


Alain Roland Nandjou Nganle(25 year old -New Stars)

He had a slow start of the season but came alive towards the end and would have loved more at the end.

Nandjou scored 7 goals in his last 5 matches to take his season tally to 15 goals in 25 league games for New Stars this season.

The “disguised” center forward was very efficient especially at home for New stars.

Rostand Mbai Junior (23 year old-Dragon FC)

“I arrived with a question mark on me and left as a hero” I quote Junior Rostand Mbai.

After leaving Astres last season, few could have predicted Rostand shining this bright but he defy the predictions of many pundits to become the first player in the existence of LFPC to score 20 goals in a season after featuring 28 times.

Mbai also assisted 4 goals this season thus earning him the move to Ittihad Tanger.
Mbai was nominated for player of the month twice and won it once this season.

Marius Mouandilmadji (21 years old- Cotonsport, Chadian)

Marius LFPC player of the month of April was also very instrumental in cotonsport’s title win.

In 26 matches this season, Marius scored 18 goals and provided 5 assists.

Marius scored the league’s first hat trick of the season and is the only player that scored 2 hat tricks this season.

Marius left the Cameroon professional football league for FC Porto in Portugal before the end of the championship.

Ebwelle Ndinge Bertin(Cotonsport)

Appointed after 7 games this season to come and rescue Cotonsport’s desperate start of the season, Ebwelle Bertin imposed an exceptional touch at Cotonsport.

The former under 17 Lions coach won just above 60.2% of his 27 games in charge and made his boys difficult to beat as they lost just 2 games under him but were very dangerous defeating all opponents in the league.
