The 60th edition of Cameroon’s top flight will be played over weekend across the country with a mouth watering fixture in Garoua between the most successful team in the competition and arguably the most ambitious team in the country.
Cotonsport of Garoua under the tutelage of the very experienced Sango Emmanuel Ndoumbe Bosso welcomes Guy Bertin Djiepnang’s Feutcheu FC of Bandjoun.
The last time the two teams played against each other was during the playoffs for the championship of the 2019 football season. Cotonsport were 1-0 winners.
Coton finished as runners-up last season while Fetcheu FC finished just a place behind them in third.
Both teams will hope for a strong start to the new season if they have to match their Standards for Coton and ambitions for Feutcheu.
Contonsport of Garoua have brought in both youth and experience to strengthen their team in a bid to claim a 16th domestic league win.
Experienced winger Marius Ngon A Tiati and forward Didier Yimga have both joint from Astres of Douala, young midfielder Kamto Kamto Aurelien Junior from Unisport of Bafang, midfielder Pascal Mbarga Abega and former Elite One MVP, left-back Alphonse Marie Tientcheu also joint from Eding Sport of Lekie. Forward Yannick Ebongue will also be out for his first game for Coton against his former employers, he will have to fight for a place with newly recruited Nigerian forward Sadiq Souleyman.
Coach Ndoumbe Bosso will miss some established players like defender Ndassi Ngweni and forward Gérard Aimé Mangolo who have moved on, but he will be hoping that his new boys can rise up to the challenge.
For Fetcheu FC of Bandjoun, they were relatively quiet in the transfer market.
Guy Bertin Djiepnang has brought in just two new faces. Goalkeeper Collins Maifanya from Astre of Douala Mutia Evaristus from EMSSA of Tiko. They have opted for stability and continuity.

Contonsport have scored 11 goals and conceded just two in their last five meetings.
Going by their previous record, Cotonsport are expected to win this one again.
