With two match days gone in the Cameroon league one, Astres of Douala and PWD of Bamenda are still scrambling to get first-tier spots on paper, while New Stars of Douala have calmly been reinstated with a case that directly affects both PWD and Astres.
On October 21st the verdict of a long standing appeal made by New Stars to the Cameroon Olympic and Sports Committee was granted in their favour.
The chamber of the National Olympic and Sports Committee held that; only the resolutions of the board of directors on the regulations of the 2018/2019 championship season are valid; only one club initially was to be shown the door at the end of the 2018/19 season.
The most important decisions taken by the National Olympic and Sports Committee were;
– To Cancel the decision taken by FECAFOOT No 23/FCF/CR/2019 declared on September 4th 2019.
– New Stars FC of Douala would be maintained in the League 1 in the 2019/2020 football season.
According to the decision taken by the board of directors before the 2018/19 season, only Unisport of Bafang fell short of being in the big time.
With the case won by New Stars, PWD of Bamenda, Astres of Douala, Aigle Royal and Lion Blesse are back into the picture, and the league 1 number of teams may increase to 20 this season while League 2 increases to 17.
