Cameroon League 1:Preview of Feutcheu FC V Astres-Will Astres Finally Get Their First Win?

Feucheu FC of Djiko

When second placed Astres get to the West Region this weekend, they will have it in their minds that a win against struggling Feutcheu FC of Djiko Bandjoun can take them to the top of the table depending on results elsewhere while for Feutcheu FC, they will be looking for just their second win of the season and their first win at home this season.

History

The clash of these young clubs in Cameroon will be one to keep an eye on given that the current head coach of Feutcheu,Richard Towa was once upon a time the head coach of Astres of Douala. Astres was created in 2002 and in their 17 years of existence they have been runners up in the Cameroon top flight championship on 3 occasions. Feutcheu FC on was created in 2011 only got promoted to this level of the National competition in 2017 and in their 2 seasons in the big time they have not done better than finishing 4th in the 2017 season.

Astres under president Kamdem Dieudonne have been very consistent and have never been relegated while Joseph Feutcheu’s Feutcheu FC have been a big game team, they have a great record against the likes of Astres and YOSA.

Current Form

Astres have won 2 and registered 2 draws in their last 5 games accepting defeat only to UMS of Loum while Feutcheu is currently on a desperate run of 1 win, 3 draws and 1 defeat in their last 5 games making life very difficult for coach Richard Towa and his team.

Astres is second on the log with 11 points while Feutcheu is 7th with 8 points after 7 games for both Pool B clubs. Astres have scored 9 goals and conceded 8 gaols while Feucheu FC have scored 5 goals and conceded 5 goals.

Head-to-Head Record

These clubs have met on 4 occasions since Feutcheu graduated into the League 1 championship. All meetings between them have produced goals and more joy for Feutcheu FC,they have registered 3 wins in the 4 games in the league 1 with 1 draw.

Players To Watch
Under 23 Lion Salmadini El Faouzan and Richard Ebongue will be the key-men for Coach Richard Towa in this one. Both players have a goal each this season and have been key to all good things from Feutcheu this season just like goalkeeper Sadjio Eric while for Astres forwards Guy Armand Ngosso and Christian Deugoue may cause all sorts of problems for Feutcheu in this one.
This game may end up being an audition game for coach Richard Towa and the last thing he will accept is failing to end his 4 games winless run. His colleague Olivier Nankam just rejoined the Astres boys after his return from Turkey and will want to win to finish the first round with 14 points.
Bafoussam municipal Stadium is the stage this weekend.
