Stade Renard of Melong

Defending champions, Cotonsport of Garoua are aiming for nothing short of a win during day three of the championship playoffs against Stade Renard of Melong, what could imply a twist in the tiltle race.

Cotonsport dropped points against APEJES of Mfou in one of day two playoff fixture last weekend to enable their closest title persuers, UMS Loum hold grip of the title. The Coton Weaver’s must win against Stade Renard if they intend to retain the leagues trophy.

However, to attain this exploit, they have to go through a more resilient Stade Renard side which is hoping to create an upset.
Stade Renard have never won a match against Cotonsport of Garoua, and are ready to give their opponents a good run for their title.

Stakes
Cotonsport of Garoua could return to the top of the championship table providing they win their game while hoping that UMS Loum drops points. This will mean a typical similar situation of what we observed on day two. A draw or defeat for the Garoua based club could mean they will drop with respect to other results.

To be on the safe side, Cotonsport must therefore win their game. A victory will also secure their second victory away from home after they beat Feutcheu. They have a bad history with fixtures out of Garoua. They are second of the table with 4 pts, two behind UMS.

Stade Renard are also battling for the title despite their 5th spot on the table. They need a win to keep their title hopes alive and equally to reduce the gap between the top two ( UMS and Coton). They could be a potential contender.

A defeat for Stade Renard may see them retain their 5th spot on the table of 6 and take them further away from their dream title glory moment. They currently occupy the 5th position among 6 other teams.

Players to Watch

This will definitely be a game with some big names on show. A combination of close to 15 players of different categories of the Cameroon and other National selection will face each other.

In the Cotonsport half, the League’s current top scorer Kamilou Daouda,31 who has netted 10 times this season though still to score in the playoffs remain a major attacking item for the Cotonites. He is partnered by danger man Arnaud Sanou Sibiri,20,the Burkinabe forward has already scored in the playoffs and can boast of an impressive run of 5 goals in his last 5 games. While many will focus on the Cotonsport goal scorers at the back the have arguably the best back line in the land;On paper Etta Bawak,Zacharie Ndongo Foe,Serge Andoulou, Banga Solomon,Ngweni Ndasi and either Bassa Djeri or Simon Omossola ( All internationals) are the best a club can aim to get.

In the Renard half they are not short of talents especially defensive talents. Coach Souleymanou Aboubakar has ever reliable captain Nkuissi Thomas Legrand fine defensive association with Aloukou,Franck Gatue,Steve Roberto Nkeuni to turn to at all times. The form of Batum Rodrique, maker 3 goals this season from the midfield is going to be telling.

Whatever happens this contest promises to be very interesting and may go beyond the pitch given that the two coaches guiding these sides are amongst the longest serving coaches in the land. Coach Doumbe Bosso of Cotonsport and Coach Souleymanou Aboubakar of Stade Renard are very fine “old brains” in this call.

Stade Renard have the habit of conceding against Cotonsport. Consequently, they must do tremendously well if they aim to keep the Cameroon Champions at bay.
