The two times cup of Cameroon finalist have failed to impress their supporters ,with no victory to show for away from the North West Region. Public Works Department Social club of Bamenda are yet to record an away win this season.
The league one come-backs have had a poor away run to the start of the championship, with all five of their away encounters ending in utmost disappointment to their fans.
The club’s best away record was a 0:0 draw against Tonnerre Kalara club at the Military stadium in Yaounde in round 8. The Bamenda side have suffered 4 defeats; two against Cameroon’s heavyweights and Littoral based clubs, Union Sportive of Douala and New Stars.
One of their heaviest away defeat was a 3 nil stunning by current champions, Cotonsport of Garoua. They recently fell to APEJES Academy during match day 10 of Cameroon’s top tier Championship 3-1 in Yaounde.
APEJES came into the game eying a revenge against the 2004 CAF Confederation attaindees after their 1-2 defeat in Bamenda during the first day of play and at full time on Sunday APEJES was the happier side.
The Bamenda based club have scored two goals in 5 away matches conceding 10. Their performance since returning to Cameroon’s leading football league has been characterised with inconsistency. PWD sit at the button of Group A with 9 points. 2 wins,3 draws and 4 defeats.
PWD made a historic and triumphant return to top flight championship after 14 years. She has featured in two cup finals (1967 and 1979) and failed to convert the trophy.
Considered as one of the oldest clubs in Cameroon, and one of the flag bearers of the Northwest region, PWD of Bamenda is yet to replicate their stunning elite two football success at the top tier. They were the lone team not to concede defeat after 11 matches played last season in the elite two championship, the second largest football league in Cameroon.
Despite their winless away record,fans and supporters of the club remain optimistic about future encounters.
PWD will remain in Yaounde to challenge Colombe this Friday in their day 11 assignment in the league. The reversed game ended 1 all in Bamenda.
