Cotonsport’s search for a first away win this season will continue in the 13th playing day, following their 1#0 defeat by Tonnerre Kalara club of yaounde, at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in one of day 12 encounters of the Cameroon professional football league.
The defending champions came in to the game, having gone five away games without a win. A Rejuvenated Tonnerre Kalara club, that is now on a four match unbeaten streak, never looked like the same team that was beaten 6# nil in the away tie in Garoua. Gael Gregoire Nkama’s 26th minute goal, was not just his fifth of the season, but condemned the cotonites to their third defeat of the season. Cotonsport has played 6 games out of home, recording 3 draws ( against Avion, Colombe and Apejes), and suffering 3 defeats ( against New Stars, Union and Tonnerre).
Tonnerre’s recent form is scaring opponents, as the Kalara boys have lined up two wins and two draws in their last four league games. Cotonsport looked sloppy with a clueless Daouda Kamilou up front, who was virtually silent by an impossing Tonnerre backline, with goalkeeper Pierre Sylvain Abogo being more of a spectator throughout 90 minutes.
Cotonsport’s new gaffer, Emmanuel NDOUMBE Bosso was not in the dugouts and Daouda Kamilou seemingly on a goal drought, has lost his place at the top of the golden Boot race to a wander boy Serge Ekollo Malolo, his next opponent in the league.
The competitive nature of the league have seen Tonnerre moving to the fourth place in Pool A, same number of points as second place cotonsport, with only goal difference separating them. Tonnerre therefore postpones Cotonsport’s first away win, with a another difficult game against in form Dragon, awaiting the cotonites on match day 13.
