PWD of Bamenda played a heated zero all tie against Unisport of Bafang in one of those instances where the scoreline did not tell the real story of the game.
The Abakwa boys are now with four points and are edging ever so close to securing topflight after they showed power and character to drag themselves through 90 minutes without conceding.
Jules Nyongha, coach of Unisport came well prepared to play a PWD side fresh from whopping New stars of Douala and their desires nearly turned reality when a corner was almost turned in by captain Joseph Kajo-it took the trailing leg of Louis Mbah to deny the dead lock from being broken.
A few chances then came thereafter for PWD, when Auriol Fokou lashed on a ball that was booted high by the goal keeper- unfortunately Fokou didn’t connect well with the ball in what was PWD’s best chance in the first half.
The Unisport of Bafang fans who travelled alongside their players were utterly more loud than the fans of PWD in Limbe, getting to the second half.
The second half became even more tactical, physical and technical thus chances became few and far between.
Goal keeper Stephane Kamani didn’t calculate his timing to perfection, and nearly gifted Jude Kongnyuy a goal earlier in the second half around the 56th minute.
Boung Joel and center half partner were having a time of their lifes at the defense for PWD. The duo frustrated every attempt by the Unisport attack to score in 90 minutes.
After the game, coach Augustine Choupo was very impressed ‘they are a good and physical side. I think we are happy to take a point because we are off to 4 points in the group’.
