The Limbe centenary stadium will this Saturday April 20, 2019, host two teams that are fighting for survival in the league one championship. Astres of Douala and AS Fortuna separated by just a single point on the leagues table, and are facing serious relegation threats.
A win for either of the teams, will be a giant step towards avoiding the relegations playoff. Astres started the season on a good footing, but soon dropped the tempo. Both coaches, Olivier Nankam of Astres and Stephane Ndzana of Fortuna, know just how important the game is, and will hope to get the maximum points possible.
HEAD TO HEAD
Astres won the away 1#0, thanks to a goal from Engelbert Messina. Saturdays game will be the fourth ever top flight confrontation between the two sides. In their last three meetings, the Brazilians of Bepanda have recorded one win over Fortuna, with two other encounters ending in draws. Their first ever top tier showdown was on March 29 2018, with both sides sharing the spoils, 1#1. The two sides again met on July 29, 2018, and again separated 2#2.
Astres comes in to the game on the back of four consecutive defeats. Their last win in the league, was a 1#nil win over Fovu some five match days ago. Astres occupies the 8th spot, in pool B, with 14 points. (Just three points ahead of bottom placed Fovu). Out of 13 games played, Astres has won just four, drawn two and suffered seven defeats.
For AS Fortuna, they have recorded back to back draws against YOSA and Fovu, and will be looking for their fourth win in what will be their 15th outing of the season. Out of 14 games played, they have also suffered five defeats and six draws, scoring 13 goals and conceding 13.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Marius Ngon A Tati and Christian Deugoue have four goals within themselves, and will certainly lead the line for Astres.
For AS Fortuna, Coach Stephane Ndzana can rely of experienced left back, Louis Tazoh, who will certainly be making his way back into the team, after he missed their last game against Fovu, through suspension. Donald Franck Atangana scored against Fovu after coming on as a substitute, and may be called in to lead the attack alongside Victor Ndzie Nomo and Marrion Franck Bombock.
