Match day three action of the 2018_2019 league one championship left a bitter pill to swallow for New stars of Douala, as goalkeeper Patrick Lionel Kibyen was send to the back of his net five times. Serge Ekollo Malolo scored three minutes into both halves, and further goals from Junior Frank Mebenga, Orel Roussel Noubissi and a Patrick Lionel Kibyen blunder from Ignace Martial Biyidi’s free kick, completed a five star performance for Dragon, though Nelson Moukeu denied Haschou Kerrido a clean sheet.

Out of three league games played, New stars has recorded just one point, two defeats, three goals scored and nine conceded. Speaking to, New stars captain, Ronald Lakem Lane admitted it was a disappointing defeat, but swears his team will fight back in their next games. The versatile player said “in football, it is either you lose, win or draw, so we will not let ourselves down, we will continue fighting till the end”. The News stars skipper also revealed that their worrying form is partly due to the recent additions into the squad, as they are still finding it difficult to integrate in the team.
New Star has always had a difficult start of the season. In the 2017_2018 season, the team managed just 8 points in their opening 10 league games, but went ahead to finish on the fourth spot at the end of the season. The record books now holds that New stars has defeated Dragon just once in nine league confrontations, suffering five defeats, and three draws. New stars will next play PWD of Bamenda, in what will be the first ever meeting between the two teams in the top tier.
