Dragon sportive of yaounde has beaten Tonnerre Kalara club 1#nil in one of day 14 games of the Cameroon league one championship, played at the yaounde Omnisport Stadium this Wednesday April 10, 2019.

Dragon left it late to deliver the killer punch, and needed an 87 minute flick from substitute Jean Jude Etele, to impose a first defeat on the Kalara boys, since the start of the second round of the championship.

Dragon dominated play in the first half, with brilliant passes from Serge Ekollo Malolo, who formed a formidable partnership with Gerard Tamukong, but never got the ball pass goalkeeper Pierre Sylvain Abogo of Tonnerre. The Cha Cha Cha boys also had to rely on the excellent defending of Thomas Peleg and Fernandihno Gaatien, protected from the flanks by Paul stephane Bong and Guillaume Din.

Tonnerre gained momentum in the second segment, and came close to raising the curtains on several occasions. Coach Jules Abah Onana brought in Gael Gregoire Nkama in place of Franck Yannick Nunke, and the 5 goal scorer almost grab his sixth of the season, but saw his efforts thwarted by Haschou Kerido.

The 87th minute proved decisive, when Dragon’s captain Serge Ekollo Malolo found his way into Tonnerre’s box and unleash a bound shot which goalkeeper Pierre Sylvain Abogo fumbled on it, and an onrushing Jean Jude Etele slotted it to the back of an empty net, for his third goal of the season.

The defeat puts an end to Tonnerre’s Five match unbeaten run, which has seen them record 3 wins ( against Union, Cotonsport and Avion) and 2 draws ( against PWD and Apejes). Despite the defeat, TKC is ranked 4th with 18 points, while the win takes Dragon to the second spot in pool A, with 19 points, same number of points as leaders, Cotonsport of Garoua.

Tonnerre will be on standby on match day 15 of the championship, before making a tricky trip to Bamenda on match day 16, to confront PWD social club.
