Stade Renard of Melong salvaged a point in Limbe in match-day six of Cameroon’s top flight with almost the last kick of the game.

Inspirational captain George Mfegue rised above all and powerfully headed a last minute equalizer that left Stade Renard’s goalkeeper Yannick Letizi Epane rooted on his line, from Bertoro Dang Ali’s well taken corner.

Stade Renard took the lead at the 18th minute when a fine cross from Auguste Moudongo was powerfully volleyed home by former Astre of Douala captain Jean Berteau Simo.

Avion had a penalty shout one minute after conceding, when Frank Gatue heavily brought down Kevin Kotto Wangue but referee Mefire Abdou was not impressed.

Avion finally had their equalizer at the 22nd minute when George Mfegue outplayed Berteau Simo to tee up Ondigui Tomo Raphaël, he unleashed a missile which even goalkeeper Yannick Letizi Epane of Stade Renard will give a thumps up for.

Avion then built on the equalizer and pressed for a second. At the 31st minute, Mfegue headed narrowly wide from a fine in-swinger from Bekolo Minkoumba Gaël.

Avion’s goalkeeper Gabriel Nzong was the busier of two in the dying moments of the first half. He pulled off two brilliant saves to maintain the score line.

Steve Robert Keuni went close when his low header from Alfred Meyong Etong’s corner was parried out by Nzong. Nzong came to Stade Renard’s rescue again, when Christian Donald Tchawa nicely setup Steve Roberto Keuni who had only Nzong to beat but the Avion goalkeeper came out on top.

In the second half, Stade Renard quickly had their noses in front when they took the lead at the 50th minute from the spot.

Alfred Meyong Etong played a fine cross to the unmarked Christian Donald Tchawa, his close range effort had beaten Nzong in goal but a last ditch goal line clearance from Rodrigues Wamou Tchouto looked to have let Avion off the hook but referee Mefire Abdou pointed to the spot for a handball. Auguste Moudonga stepped forward and made sure for Avion 1 Stade Renard 2.

Stade Renard could have given themselves a two goal cushion, but Auguste Moudouga’s free-kick at the edge of the box for an elbow on Reugoue Yandjeu from Frank Kamal, came off the woodwork.

Stade Renard were in control of the game and looked set to bag all the three points at stake. They opted for match killing antics which turned out to hunt them later.

A late corner was played in with inch perfect precision by Bertoro Dang Ali and George Mfegue rised up to grab a priceless fourth goal of the season.

Avion now have 5 points in six games while Stade Renard have four in as many games.
