APEJES of Mfou and Dragon of Yaounde have played a two in tie in one of day three playoff games. It was the third time the two sides were meeting this season, Apejes got away with their first point out of nine, against Dragon in 2019. They center regional derby played at the Yaounde military stadium, was packed with actions from both ends.
Dragon drew first blood in the game, at the 36th minute, through midfielder Vincent Paul Ngondi, but APEJES needed just six minute to reply.
Dragon’s goalkeeper, Haschou Kerrido, blocked Robert Tamatieu’s 42nd minute strike, but an on rushing Russel Nganou pounced on the loose ball and slotted it to the bottom corner of the net, to send the two sides back to the dressing room, with 1#1 score.
Omarou Sokba’s squad looked more mature and well organized, as compared to the team that played Academie La Forme foot midweek. But Dragon will again take the lead at the 51st minute through Captain Ekollo Malolo, who netted a penalty, to take his season’s tally to 10 goals. APEJES then took total command of the game, forcing Dragon to conceding four straight corner kicks, which eventually paid off at the 54th, when Ako Calistus Anjeh got the equalizer for APEJES.
Clebert Ekwalla Ebongue and Gerome Heutchou, will then block further incursions from Dragon, as Gerard Tamukong and Yengi Vitalis of Dragon, struggled on several attemptsm to punish their former employers. With the draw, APEJES remains unbeaten in the playoffs, and also winless in three games, while Dragon are on one win, one draw and one defeat. The two sides have now meet 11 times in the Camroon top tier, recording four wins each, and three draws. Their hopes of winning a maiden league one title are gradually being dashed away, with just two more playing days to go.
