Union de Mouvement Sportive of Loum has taken a giant step in the battle to become champions of the League Championship, following their 1#0 win over Dragon of Yaounde. UMS need a 79 minute goal from Abanda Koa Nicolas (his second goal of the season), gave them all three points against the Cha Cha Cha boys.
Serge Yvan Ekollo Malolo has been the main man for Dragon this season, scoring nine of their 23 goals this season. Many sports analysts have described Dragon as “Ekollo Malolo’s team”, making reference to Pep Guardiola who ones describe Tottenham as a Harry Kane team. And that was proven against UMS, as Malolo was not in the best of form, and Dragon failed to grab the essentials.
Haschou Kerrido was the busy of the two goalkeepers, and Dragon’s defense was given a good run for their money, with a tough task of dealing with the likes Fred Willy Bofia, Romeo Yem Yem and Vitus Amougui. Dragon failed to make use of an early injury to UMS defense kingpin Cedrick Landry Djomo, as Bertin Nguemaleu and Boris Ngosso, won all the duels against Ekollo Malolo, Roche Foning and Junior Frank Mebenga.
The match statistic saw dragon with 58 percent ball possession, three shots on target as compared to just two for UMS, and 491 passes completed, as compared to 350 for UMS. Dragon’s dominant was real, but UMS was more clinical in front of goal.
The win means UMS has won five of their last nine confrontations with Dragon, with only two wins for Dragon, and two draws.
