Indomitable Lioness player Claudine Falone Meffometou Tcheno has put a temporary halt to her football career and hopes to come back stronger by working harder.
The Cameroonian international who plays for FC Fleury 91 in the French D1 is expecting a child with her partner with her being a few months pregnant.
“I’m proud of it; I will fully experience the joy of having a baby. When you are a woman, you are called to found a family. I put my career on hold to come back stronger by working harder. At the moment, my priority is that of my pregnancy and my delivery but I certainly having pull the plug on football,” Falone Meffometou said in an interview with Parisian.
To Meffometou ladies think being pregnant while they are still active in football brings with it a lot of questions that they have to ponder. “…It will appeal to all those who thought they would take the plunge. Many want a child but are wondering: won’t relation with the club change while being pregnant? Will it be easy to regain your level afterwards?”
Since signing for FC Fleury 91 in 2019 from Guingamp (2017-2019), Falone has so far had 16 appearances for her club. The native of Lafe-Baleng began her football at Franck Rhollicek from Douala before moving to Spartak Subotica in Serbia and then to Zvezda 2005 based in Perm, Russia.
Falone began her exploit in the Lionesses den in 2011. She has represented Cameroon at the London 2012 Olympic Games and participated at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup. She also featured during the 2016 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations as Cameroon went all the way to the final but lost to Nigeria in the final.
