Littoral Regional league side Aigle Royal of Nkongsamba , has defeated Elite one vice champions Eding Sports of the Lekie, to reach the eighth final of the 2022 Cameroon cup.
A brace from Franck Sylvain Poualeu secured an important win for the litoral Regional league side in the 16th final, as they eliminated 2018 winners Eding sports of the Lekie.
Franck Sylvain Poualeu opened scores for Aigle Nkongsamba at the 75th minute, but Eding drew the game level through Harrison Ford Djonkep.
With two minutes of regulation time left to play at the Bonamoussadi stadium, Poualeu again turned in a beautiful pass from Hond Joseph to beat goalkeeper Souleyman Souleyman of Eding, as the Mungo side held tight to secure a place in the last 16.
Founded in 1933, Aigle of Nkongsamba was once a dominant name in Cameroon Football, winning the top flight in 1971. For quite awhile, the team has been in the inferior leagues, but have now resurfaced to beat Eding Sports, who won the league and Cameroon cup in 2017 and 2018 respectively. Bonaventure Djonkep’s side is fresh from finishing second in the just ended campaign, but have now seen their cup journey cut short. Aigle Royal of Nkongsamba are now the only low tier side left in the Cameroon cup.
Cotonsport keeping domestic double hopes alive
In the other semi final games, Cotonsport defeated Racing of Bafoussam 2#0, thanks to second half goals from Felix Oukine and Kaido. Cotonsport had goalkeeper Gadin sent off at the 10th minute, but Racing’s Zebina was also shown the matching orders following a dangerous tackle at the 34th minute.

FOVU escapes another third tier trap
FOVU of Baham came from behind to beat EPTA on penalties. Late goals from Stéphane Ikpeme and Captain Arsène Mbe, secured a comeback for FOVU, after they had gone two goals down.
Astres beats YOSA again
At the Fotso Victor Stadium in Bandjoun on Monday afternoon, Astres of Douala recorded their second win this season over YOSA, to sail through to the eighth final.

Experienced forward Christian Degoue scored the lone goal of the game less than one minute after the pause, though YOSA squandered several chances to draw the game level. Anicet Mbarga Foe’s side who lost last year’s final, are still keeping their hopes alive.
