Hours after sources directly involved with the employment of the head coach of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon told kick442.com that they have picked 51-year-old Uruguayan,Gustavo Augusto Poyet Domínguez as their next head coach, the tough talking gaffer has come out to deny claims he has agreed to take over as boss of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.
Speaking to online portal cameditsport the former Girondin of Bordeaux head coach is quoted to have said “I have spoken with authorities of Cameroon football but its not a done deal”
His declaration therefore means Cameroon will have to continue the search for the right man for the Lions.
Poyet name surprisingly surfaced on media as the next head coach of the Indomitable Lions on Tuesday.
In an attempt to get first hand facts, kick442.com reach out to a top source directly related to the “coach search party” who confirmed Poyet has been picked for the job.
Upon gathering this details we published an article with the the title;
“Confirmed:Cameroon now know Seedorf’s replacement”
Poyet’s declaration coupled with the fact that he was expected in Cameroon on Tuesday leaves us with the impression that there is still work to be done to get Poyet or another option.
But as past experience have, knowing their man for the job and getting their man is not at times very easy, the August 2018 experience with Sven Goran Erikson who came to Cameroon saw authorities but Clarence Seedorf was made coach is one of many examples.
Cameroon has been without a head coach since Clarence Seedorf lost his job after the dismal performance of the Lions at the 2019 AFCON tournament June-July in Egypt.
