In under six weeks, approximately in 44 days, West African giant Cameroon will be hosting the Total African Nations Championship. This will cut across four major cities of the country, Yaounde, Douala, Bafoussam and Limbe. The hosting of this tournament gives Cameroon the opportunity to prepare hard in several perspectives. Considerable resources have been disbursed by the state to prepare ahead of this tournament to meet up CAF requirements.
With stakes put in place already, one is tempted to say to say the race will be a smooth one from the 16th of January to the 7th of February next year. Major stadiums have been erected in some parts of the country while others have been renovated to improve the infrastructural reference of the country. One of these facilities recently constructed is the 50,000 seater Japoma Omnisport stadium which is FIFA standard. The renovated Reunification stadium in Douala, the Limbe Omnisport stadium in the South West, not leaving out the launching ground Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium and Quebec stadium which will all paint the games its beautiful colours.
As pitches are being set for the competition, logistics are also being put in place in the likes of hotels, hospitals and other health facilities. In the littoral region which will serve as host for two pools of the CHAN, can so far boost of well equipped hotels both four and five stars to suit the event. In other parts of the country same constructions and renovations are being done to give comfort to the visitors. As announced, high-tech medical equipments have been provided at selected hospitals and health care units to provide confident and quality health care services.
At the level of the Transportation, several roads in the towns have been made accessible. It can be considered a foreign town when plying to the Limbe Omnisport Stadium. Upgrades have been done on roads and entry points to facilitate movement. Cameroon’s lone airline company CAMARI-CO is on standby meanwhile military helicopters will be stationed to transport crucial cases.

Cameroon is hosting for the first time since the Championship was launched in 2009. 16 countries are expected to participate in this tournament and everything being equal, head coach of the intermediate lions Martin Ndougou Mpile is fine-tuning tactics ensuring that lions excel in their first hosting of the tournament. While others are leaving the camp and country, they are immediately being replaced. This therefore gives the head coach a chance to build a unique squad.
The hosting right was initially handed to Ethiopia but was changed to Cameroon when Ethiopian Football Federation EFF admitted it was not read. The tournament was slated for January and February 2019, then postponed to April. Due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic it jad been shifted to its original months, January and February 2021.
