The handball Lionesses are down and out of the 2020 Olympics due to destitute, as per results from officials.
The Cameroon Women’s handball team have not made the trip to take part in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic qualifiers scheduled to take place in Dakar, Senegal.
This is a disturbing reality check for coach Serge Guebogo and over 22 women; 16 locals and 6 internationals who have been training hearts out for over 10 days at the University of Yaounde 1, Ngoa-Ekele, Concorde Sports Complex.
Last Month’s beating finalists at the All African Games in Morocco were initially to face the trinity of Angola, DRC and hosts Senegal from September 26 – 29, 2019.
This is coming in barely six months after the president of the confederation of African Handball, Mansourou Aremou, expressed satisfaction after visiting 2020 AFCON facilities in Cameroon.
The 24th edition of the African Women’s Handball Championship will take place from 29 November to 9 December 2020 in Yaounde, Cameroon.
Cameroon is therefore going to miss out on her first shot of taking part in Women’s Handball at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. This is simply disastrous for the ladies who would play in the 2020 AFCON Handball Championship on home soil.
