South African top side, Mamelodi Sundowns ensured top spot of group A and qualification to the quarter finals of the CAF Champions League with a resounding victory over Al Hilal on Saturday.
In a six goals thriller, the Brazilians conquered the Sudanese four goals to two despite falling a man down as early as the first half of the tie.
Star Boy, Shalulile opened score in the second minutes to set the tune for a good output in place for the Masandawana.
However, Brian Onyango received his marching orders after a last-man foul reducing the South African representatives to ten men.
This didn’t deter Sundowns as they went to score the second goal in the 30th minutes courtesy of a Teboho Mokoena’s freekick. The first half ended with Sundowns going into the tunnel with a two-goal margin lead.
Al Hilal rose up to the occasion in the second half as in the 56th minutes Mozamil reduced the lead to one after his goal.
In quick response, Morena restored the two-goal cushion with a fine finish in the 60th minutes to keep score at 1-3.
Twenty-nine minutes later, Morena sealed the deal with a calm finish in the box to grab his brace and put the match beyond the reach of the Sudanese.
The hosts reduced the deficit after Eltayib scored the rebound from the saved penalty some moments to the end of the game.
The win takes Sundowns to the last eight of the competition while qualification Al Hilal have their fate in their hands to qualify to the next round as they have to win and win well.
