Angolan giant, Petro Atletico continued their fine outing in the group stage after securing maximum points against Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca in their second group D encounter.
Petro got their first win over the Moroccans after a 2-1 victory at the stadium on Saturday. A win which took them top of the log with four points after earning a 2-2 draw against another giant in Zamalek of Egypt last weekend.
The away side were up and running with the first attempt, but from there on it were Angolans with huge motivation from the cheering crowd that looked lethal coming close to scoring on a couple of occasions.
Tiago Azulão put the home side in front after a pass from his fellow Brazilian Gleison was well put at the back of the net before halftime to send the home crowd into ecstasy.
However, an Jalal Daoudi’s freekick earlier in the second half silenced the crowd with a shocking goal as he capitalized on the goalkeepers wrong positioning to lop the ball into the net.
Petro looked determined to get the win nevertheless as they made the momentum counts later as Yano was on ground to bury the ball at the back of the net after Jaredi’s pass in the 69th minutes.
At the end of the match Petro coach, Alexandre Santos hails his team’s victory. He says that the victory is totally fair and deserved and the way it was against Wydad”

Petro play with Sagrada Esperança in their third group D match while it will be Zamalek squaring up against Wydad Casablanca in another exciting fixture.
