Morocco Botola Pro outfit Raja Club Athletic have become the first side to beat Zambia’s Nkana FC in a CAF interclub competition game played in Zambia since their competition debut in 1976.
Ahead of the Group D matchday 2 fixture, Nkana had won 45 home matches and drawn 19 in the Champions League, African Cup Winners Cup, CAF Cup and Confederation Cup, scoring 137 goals and conceding 38.
But, second-half goals from the most valuable player of the 2020 African Nations championship Soufiane Rahimi and substitute Noah Sadaoui was all it took to end a run that has been tested by some of the best Clubs on the continent without achieving success.
The game ended on a 2-0 score in favour of the Raja Casablanca side that was the better side on the day.
Raja currently second-seeded in Group D of the 2020-2021 CAF Confederation cup along side with six points from two outings, same number of points as Pyramids FC who have a better goal difference.
Both sides have won their opening two games in the competition and face each other on April 2 in Casablanca while bottom and pointless sides Namungo FC and Nkana FC of coach Kelvin Kaindu face each other in Tanzania.
It has been an amazing start to the CAF interclub season for the neutrals as they have similar long standing records have been shattered.
TP Mazembe of the Democratic Republic were beaten for the first time in 75 matches.
The Group stages of the competition will be concluded by April and the best two clubs in each of the groups will advance to the quarter-finals of the competition.
