Cotonsport of Garoua will have to challenge RS Berkane of Morocco in Berkane on Wednesday in their ultimate CAF Confederation cup group stage game without their foreign players.
The Royal Moroccan embassy has rejected the Club’s requests for Visas for trio Kamilou Daouda from Niger, plus Congolese duo Okoumou Jean Rosis and Ebandza Archange Zo.
According to kick442.com findings the Cotonites tabled request for entry visas into Morocco alongside the rest of the delegation last week but the embassy in Yaoundé-Cameroon replied providing visas to some of the players but carefully excluding the three foreign players.
This Pan-African Sports news agency is tracking reasons behind the move but it is clear that the move affects Cotonsport’s plans and tempers on their squad strength.
Zo Archange came off the bench and scored in the Club’s match-day four 5-1 win against NAPSA while all-time lead scorer Kamilou Daouda is returning from a spell in treatment and had been included in the squad for the first time since undergoing surgery in January while Oukoumou who started in March in the 1-0 win against NAPSA Stars in Lusaka is also unable to travel.
Cotonsport leaves Cameroon later this Tuesday and will clash with outgoing champions RS Berkane in a 10pm kick-off in Berkane on Wednesday, April 28.
Cotonsport with nine points just like JS Kabylie are already through to the quarter-final of the competition but have top spot to play for.
Felix Oukine and co jet-off tonight via a chartered flight and have the onus to win against their host and hope JS Kabylie doesn’t match their results at home to NAPSA to secure top spot in group B.
Visiting Cotonsport picked up a 2-0 win in the reversed fixture in March but suffered a 2-1 defeat in their last outing last Wednesday against JS Kabylie of Algeria. Therefore, the match-day six fixtures are a chance for both sides to right the wrongs of the past in their respective perspective but Cotonsport are obliged to do without their foreign players with the other foreign player Arnaud Sibiri Sanou suspended after seeing red against JS Kabylie.
