Players and staff of Cameroon’s remaining ambassador in the CAF interclubs competitions Cotonsport of Garoua are in Brazaville in the wee hours of Monday, February 21.
The Cameroon Champions are in the Congolese capital for Wednesday’s CAF Confederation Cup second group game of the 2020-2021 season against Congo Republic side FC Otoho.
The Cotonites left Cameroon on Sunday, and transited in Kigali-Rwanda before heading to Kinshasa.
The team will hold a first practice session on Monday evening as part of preparations for the crucial away games against FC Otoho on Wednesday February 23 and TP Mazembe on Sunday 27 in Kinshasa and Lubumbashi respectively.
It will however be the first game between Cotonsport and FC Otoho in the competition while the meeting with Mazembe is the fifth.
Anye Derick and the rest of the Cotonsport squad will be subject to the routine pre-match conference on Tuesday, plus take Covid-19 test before holding a final training session later in the day.
Cotonsport who were semi-finalist of the competition last term played a frustrating goalless draw against against Al Masry in Match-Day One but the Egyptian beat Mazembe 2-0 last Sunday.
The Otoho fixture will provide the first chance for both sides to win their first three points this season as the Congolese lost to neighbors Mazembe in Match-Day one.
Cotonsport reached the semi-final of the CAF Confederation Cup last term for the third time in history, but there’s a feel around the playing staff of the club that this term could be the season Francis Tombi Alemi, Kamilou Daouda and his colleagues finally end their trophy drought in the Continental scene especially as they have added quality.
