The lead trainer of Cotonsport of Garoua Souleymanou Aboubakar has qualified Cotonsport’s match-day three CAF Confederation cup clash against NASPA Stars FC as a different game.
Speaking during the pre-match presser on Saturday in Lusaka the 57-year old clearly revealed his team was out for a result but events of the past against Green Eagles had no relationship with the upcoming encounter.
It should be recalled that, earlier this season during the preliminary rounds of the competition, Cotonsport traveled to Zambia and recorded a two-nil win against Green Eagles but coach Souleymanou believes that results is of the past.
“This is a completely different game. The fixture against Green eagles was a playoffs game. It is not the same situation now,” coach Aboubakar stated.
The Cotonites have the wind in their sails, having snuff life out of holders RS Berkane with ease last month in Garoua, the NASPA Stars FC game looks set to be an exciting one.
The Garoua giants on a run of four wins and one defeat in their past five away games in the competition take on group-tailing NASPA Stars FC in their third group game of the 2020-2021 CAF Confederation cup knowing a win massively improves their chances of qualification.
Cotonsport challenge winless NASPA Stars at the National Heroes Stadium on Sunday April 4th in a fixture which will see them facing former keeper Loic Feudjo.
A second win for Cotonsport will put them in an interesting situation in the group with six points from three games while NASPA with just a point so far needs a victory to stay in the contest for a Quarter-final berth.
The other group fixture will pit holders RS Berkane of Morocco against JS Kabylie of Algeria with the winner to take a massive step towards progress to the quarter-finals.
