Players and staff of Senegalese top-flight side AS Jaraaf of Thies have arrived Douala-Cameroon this Wednesday ahead of their quarter-final first-leg game against local side Cotonsport of Garoua.
The boys of Coach Cheikh Gueye touchdown the Douala International Airport earlier this Wednesday and settled at their base in town pending movement to Garoua.
The team is expected to move to the North Region of Cameroon on Friday to have at least a training session before Sunday’s game.
Cotonsport enter their 12th Continental competition game on Sunday May 16 when 24 times Senegalese champions come to town for the first-leg of the quarter-final tie in Garoua before heading to Thies for the return game a week later.
The Cotonites who finished second in Group B of this season’s competition are on a run of back-to-back defeat in the competition. But they have won one and draw the other their last two games in the the domestic championship going into the game while AS Jaraaf have lost one and lost one.
AS Jaraaf are having the time of their life in the Confederation cup as they have reached the quarter-finals for the first time in their history while Cotonsport are hoping for a win to equal their semi-final run of the 2013-2014 season which was ended by Al Ahly of Cairo Egypt.
The first-leg game will be Cotonsport’s 20th of the season but before then Felix Oukine and mate will take on UMS of Loum in a delayed match-day three fixture in the Cameroon Elite One championship hoping to keep their statistics at five defeats, two draws and improve on their 11 wins this season.
