15 times Cameroon champions Cotonsport of Garoua have ended a four year absence in the group stages of the CAF interclub competitions.
The Cotonites picked up a one-nil win thanks to a goal from Lambert Ngueme Araina this Sunday in the second leg of the third round playoffs game against AS Sonidep in Garoua, making it a two-nil aggregate victory.
The result means Cotonsport reappear in the business end of the CAF organized competitions for the first time since reaching the group stages of the CAF Champions League in 2017.
Though starved of their coach for undisclosed reasons, Felix Oukine and mates dominated possession and scored late into the second segment to crown their run in this year’s competition with a victory.
Cotonsport will be one of the 16 clubs in Monday’s draw for the group stages of the competition.
