Cameroon’s representative in the 2020-2021 CAF Confederation cup group stages Cotonsport of Garoua have left Cameroonian soil this Tuesday for Algeria where they will face JS Kabylie in the first game of this season’s competition.
The boys of coach Souleymanou Aboubakar left the Garoua International Airport via a chartered Camairco flight at 8pm heading to Alger where they will face local side JS Kabylie at the Stade de 1er Novembre.
The game will mark an end to Cotonsport’s seven years absence in the competition an opportunity to repeat or better the 2013 expedition which saw the Cotonites reach the last four.
It will be the fifth meeting between both sides with the previous meetings amounting to two victories for each side.
Cotonsport’s delegation struggled to complete administrative protocols of moving to Algeria until last weekend when they were granted Visa.
The Cameroon Football Federation and the government played a telling role in chartering the national airlines bus to and fro Algeria.
The 15-times champions of Cameroon are unbeaten away in the competition this term and have the expectation of a football nation on their shoulders when they take on a side guided by their former coach on Wednesday evening.
Felix Oukine, Etta Bawak and co are expected to return home immediately after the game as they have a domestic league game against YOSA of Bamenda on Sunday before welcoming RS Berkane in their second Confederation cup fixture next Wednesday in Garoua.
