Coton Sport FC of Cameroon’s struggle in the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup continued after an unfortunate two all draw at home against Congo’s TP Mazembe on Sunday.
The team from Garoua got their third draw after four matches added to a defeat to remain rock bottom with three points making their chances of qualification from group C slimmer.
Coton had started the game brightly taking the lead in the fifteenth minutes through Souaibu Marou before Jèphté Bola’s equaliser in the forty-two minutes to end the half at equilibrium.
Just like the first half, the Cameroonian representatives piled up the pressure to restore their lead and caused an own goal by Godet Masengo who put the ball at the back of his own net in the 67th minutes.
However, Kevino Mondeko broke the hearts of the occupants of Garoua au Stade Roumdé Adjia after hitting the ball beyond the goalkeeper after a scramble at the dead if the game.
On the flip side of the group, Al Masry got a vital win to move top of the group after a one nil win against AS Otohó on Sunday.
The Egyptian side endured a long time of misses and saves from the Otohó’s goalie before Hassan Ali broke the dead lock in the 83rd minutes.
In a game dominated by the Al Masry, the Congolese representatives came under intense pressure surviving only until seven minutes to the end of the tie before Ali connected well a pass to leave the net rattled to the delight of the home fans.
Al Masry end match Day four in the lead on goals difference ahead of TP Mazembe as they both share seven points while AS Otoho who have four points are third while Coton have three points.
