The Confederation of African football, CAF, has appointed Cameroon’s all-time great Gaelle Enganamouit as the assistant match coordinator for Wednesday’s CAF Confederation cup group stage game pitting Cotonsport of Garoua against JS Kabylie of Algeria in Garoua.
The former African women’s footballer of the year winner will assist Rwanda’s Kelly Athanasie Mukandanga who is the match coordinator in his duties to ensure that all go as planned in terms of the match organisation.
28-year old Gaelle prematurely retired from football in 2020 owing to multiple injuries.
The former Lorema of Yaounde forward has since switched to other activities around the game including training as a football trainer.
Two weeks ago, CAF appointed the former Sandviken forward as assistant coordinator of the game Cotonsport versus NASPA Stars FC, stating that the Confederation is keen on partnering her with experience to enhance her development for bigger roles for CAF in future.
Gaelle Enganamouit formed an important part of the Golden generation of Cameroon women’s footballers that won the 2011 All Africa games in Maputo-Mozambique and went on to reach the 16 final if the 2015 FIFA world cup, a tournament in which she became the first African lady to score a hat-trick in a game.
Referee Mohammed Maarouf Eid Mansour will lead the team of match officials assisted Ahmed Hossam El Din, Youssef Wahid Youssef Elbosaty and Abdel Elsaid Hussein as fourth official.
Central African Sebalet Hilaire has been named the match commissioner while Kelly Athanasie Mukandanga is the match coordinator assisted by Cameroon women’s football legend Gaelle Enganamouit while Ivorian Claude Elloh is in charge of the match security.
Cotonsport currently lead group B with 9 points while second-seeded Kabylie are on 6 points going into the game.
The 2pm kick off will be played behind closed doors with strict respect of the Covid-19 prevention measures.
The fixture will see the return of former Cotonsport of Garoua and Indomitable Lions of Cameroon trainer Denis Lavagne, who leads the technical team of the visitors.
53-year old Lavagne managed Cotonsport between 2009-2011 but these days guide the 14 champions.
Coach Souleymanou Aboubakar’s Cotonsport have suffered just two defeats in the Confederation against JSK and Unisport of Sokode and three overall in 14 going into the encounter.
