Presidents Ahmed Yahya of the Mauritanian Football Federation and his counterpart Augustin Senghor of the Senegalese football federation Augustin Senghor have joined the race for March 2021.
This comes barely 24hours after South African Billionaire and president of Mamelodi Sundowns Patrice Motsepe also indicated interest.
Their entry takes the number of candidates for the race to five.
CAF Presidential Race
Incumbent Ahmad Ahmad from Madagascar, South Africa’s Patrice Motsepe plus Augustin Senghor from Senegal join Mauritania’s Ahmed Yahya and Jacques Anouma of the Ivory Coast.
Thursday, 12 November 2020 is the deadline for submission of documents for the CAF top job and kick442.com understands there will be changes in the current list of candidates before deadline day.
The elections are penciled for March 2021 in Morocco and Ahmad Ahmad who replaced long-serving Issa Hayatou in 2017 looks to be in serious competition to retain his place if he remains in the contest till elections day.
