Three Cameroonians have been assigned by the Confederation of African Football CAF, to take charge of the second group D match in the ongoing AFCON beating Ivory Coast and Morocco.
Alioum Neant Sidi
Cameroon’s Alioum Neant who was highly praised for a wonderful refereeing that opened the 2019 African football campaign, will be the referee for the encounter.
Both at the local and international level, Alioum Neant has been highly known for his transparency in the game.
MENKOUANDE Evariste shall be the first assistant and Noupoue Elvis, second assistant.
The foreigner in the list is Dalla from the Democratic Republic of Congo who shall be the fourth official.
CAF’s choice of the three Cameroonians comes as a coincidence as the three had one time refereed a local game with the same assignments.
On Wednesday 19 July 2015, they handled the Lion Blessé vs Unisport clash at the Bafang municipal stadium. In the encounter, Alioum was center referee, Menkouande first assistant and Noupoue second.
The Atlas Lions of Morocco won the 1976 African Cup of Nations and were the first African team to win a group in the world cup which they did in 1986 finishing ahead of Portugal, Poland and England.
The Elephants of Ivory coast on their part have defeated Ghana twice at the final of the African cup of Nations. In 1992, they beat Ghana on penalties at the Stade Léopold Senghor in Dakar, Sénégal.
In 2015, Ghana again suffered a defeat to them on penalties at the Estadio de Bata in Equatorial Guinea.
The Morocco vs Cote d’Ivoire clash have been programed for Friday 28 June 2019.
