CAF’s Director of competition Samson Adamu has revealed the institution’s desire to have the Semi final of its primary and secondary Club competitions played in the month of September 2020.
Speaking in a recent interview, the competitions boss re-emphasized CAF’s desire to have the games in September without stating the particular dates and venues.
The semi-finals of both competitions are usually played on home-and-away basis, but its unclear if the same approach will be adopted in this year’s competition or not.
Whichever date is picked by CAF, Egyptian giants and most successful side in the history of the competition, Al Ahly will face Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca while Zamalek have Raja Casablanca on their plate in a tailor-made Egypt-Morocco North African derby in the Champions League semi-final.
RS Berkane have fellow Moroccans Hassania Agadir to worry about in the last huddle before the final, while Egyptian revelation Pyramids SC challenge Guinea’s Horoya in the Confederation Cup.
The Champions League final and the Confederation Cup final were initially penciled for Douala-Cameroon and Casablanca-Morocco last May, the director also disclosed partial details about these events.
“The final of the Champions League will be played in Cameroon, while that of Confederation will be played in Morocco as initially planned,” he concluded without stating the dates.
