Reigning champions of Cameroon Elite one championship PWD Social Club of Bamenda have missed out a chance to sail through to the second preliminary round of the CAF interclub competition.
The Abakwa Boys separated on a virgin tie against Kaiser Chief in the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg South Africa, Saturday December 6th, 2020.
This was in a return leg game after being beaten at home one goal to zero on November 29, 2020 in the Limbe Omnisport Stadium.
All energy, resistance and pressure mounted by coach Pagou’s guys for a win, was fruitless at full-time
Substituting Aboubakar a midfielder for Hamzat a defender in order to have a firm grib of the game did not help the Abakwa Boys.
At full time the aggregate stood at 1-0 in favour of Kaiser Chief.
Many have attributed PWD’s demise to the difficulties encountered leaving Cameroon to South Africa and complications at the level of limited time to train and master the terrain of their opponent. Coupled with the absence of competitive football in the country, limited time to rest after arriving South Africa
The team arrived South Africa at midday on same day they had to face the Amakosi, hours before kickoff of the game.
The one time silver wear club will be returning to Cameroon to focus on the Cameroon Cup and Elite one championship which is yet to begin.
