TP Mazembe from the Democratic Republic of Congo have been eliminated from the African champions League after loosing 2-0 to CR Belouizdad of Algeria.
Amir Seyoud and Youcef Bechou scored the late goals with Ahmed Gasmi coming off from the bench alongside the goal scorers to create the assist.
This defeat left Mazembe bottom on Group B on just two points with only one round of play left, not giving them enough guarantee of finishing in the top two to reach the quarter-finals.
Victory for Belouizdad came after getting only one win in 11 matches, which as a result led to the resignation of French Coach Franck Doumas this week.
Slimane Raho and Rahim Bakhti were put in charge temporarily of the said club which has never progressed beyond the group stage.
Already qualified mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa who drew 0-0 against Al Ahly of Sudan are in the same group as Mazembe and Belouizdad.
Sundowns are up with thirteen points, Belouizdad six, Hilal four and Mazembe two ahead of the final group matches on Friday April 9, 2021.
In the meantime, Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa, Wydad Casablanca of Morocco and Esperance of Tunisia reached the quarter final.
