For the second consecutive time, South African debutants, Amazulu FC got a victory in their group A game of the CAF Champions League on Saturday after they piped Entente Sportive Setifenne.
The Benny McCarthy led side conquered their North African opponents through a solitary goal by Amigo Memela before of half of the game.
As expected the home side drew the first blood with a glorious opportunity scored by Mtembu, but was ruled for offside. Later on, they pushed for goal with another attempt.
The away team were not going to lay low as they had their fair share of goal attempts in the first phase.
However, a shot from outside the box 18 by left footer Memela with a little deflection entered the net to keep the fans at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, Durban roaring.
Despite the various onslaught by ES, Amazulu kept it clean at the back to deny the Tunisian team from getting something from the game.
Raja Casablanca put Horoya’s chances of qualifying from the group in jeopardy after inflicting them with another loss (the third loss) after a one zero win at Stade Mohamed V in Casablanca.
Mohsine Moutouali scored in the 67th minutes to give the Moroccan side their third consecutive win and nine points after three matches which keeps them top of group B.
Amazulu FC are second with six points while Entente Sportive Setifenne are third with three points. Horoya are rock bottom with no point.
