Seven times Mauritanian league winners FC Nouadhibou will take on 1992 and 2017 winners Wydad of Casablanca from Morocco on Sunday September 15, 2019 at the Stade Cheikha Boidiya in Mauritania.
The Mauritanian champions are in their third participation in the competition and were eliminated at the preliminary round in their two previous appearances in the competition.
They will be playing host to last season’s unfortunate finalists and two times winners who are an established name in the competition, Wydad of Casablanca.
They qualified for this stage by beating Ivorian side Société Omnisports de l’Armée 1-0 on aggregate, while Wydad were given a bye into this stage as runners-up of the last edition of the tournament.
Wydad are in their 12 campaign in the competition and have won it twice and finished as runners-up twice.
They are 20 times Moroccan champions and nine times domestic cup winners.
If the Mauritanian side gets the better of the Moroccan household name, then it will be one of the competitions fiery tale stories.
