There is a mountain to climb for reigning Equatorial Guinea Champions Cano Sports Academy when they welcome record eight times CAF Champions League winners Al Ahly of Cairo at the Estadio de Malabo on Saturday September 14, 2019.

The club was founded in early 2014 by Cándido Nsue and it is already making some great strides, as they are the reigning champions of Equatorial Guinea.

This will be the biggest fixture yet in the five year old Malabo based club’s history.

The 41 times Egyptian League and 36 domestic cup winners, Al Ahly, are expected to have a walk in the park against their 107 years younger opponents who are making their bow in a competition they master more than every other club on the continent.

The Reds defeated South Sudanese side Atlabara 13-0 on aggregate in the preliminary round, whto progress to the final qualifier round.

Minnows Cano Sport Academy qualified after beating Ethiopia’s Mekelle 70 Enderta 3-2 on aggregate.

According to the footballdatabase’s club ranking as of, August 25, 2019, Al Ahly are ranked 103 in the world only behind Esperance of Tunis on the African continent.

Whatever happens in this tie for Cano Sports Academy, they will use it as a learning process.
